F.A.Q.

FAQ — Coil Machines

Q: Why use coil machines when everyone’s going rotary?
A: Because coil machines have soul. You can feel the hit, you can tune it to your hand, and when it’s built right—it’s unbeatable for (in my opinion) linework. Rotaries are convenient. Coils are alive.

Q: Do your machines run hot?
A: No. Not if you’re running them right. I build them to stay cool even during long sessions. Of course once the voltage passes 7 volts chances are that it might run warmer. I usually keep them below 6.

Q: What’s the difference between a liner and a shader?
A:

  • Liner: Snappy, faster, hits hard and quick. Designed to push lines through in one pass.
  • Shader: Slower, longer stroke, softer hit. Meant for smooth shading, whip, or color packing.
Need something in-between? Let me know.

Q: Can I use these machines for color packing?
A: Hell yes. I build dedicated color packers that run smooth and hit solid without chewing up the skin. Tell me what you’re working with, and what you are looking for. I usually have something that matches your need.

Q: Are your machines suitable for beginners?
A: If you’re learning on coils, you’re learning the real way. These aren’t toy machines—but if you’re serious, I’ll help you get one that fits. Don’t expect training wheels, but expect quality.

Q: Do you offer tuning or rebuild services?
A: Absolutely. If you’ve got a machine that needs love, send it my way. I’ll clean it up, tune it, swap what needs swapping, and send it back humming. Contact me for the details and we can talk about it.

Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: Yep. Just cover shipping and any customs fees on your end. These machines are built to travel and work anywhere.

Q: Can I request a custom frame or look?
A: I’m open to it. I prioritize performance, but if you want custom colors, special finishes of the coils, or frames built from scratch—let’s talk and we will see how to get there.

Q: How long does it take to get a machine?
A: Depends on the order queue. Usually 1–3 weeks for builds. If you want a rush job or have a deadline, tell me up front and I’ll try to make it happen.

Q: Can I talk to you before ordering?
A: Always. I’d rather have a quick conversation and get you the right machine than send something that collects dust. Hit me up through the contact form or Instagram.
